From 2011 he headed the strategic expansion of the company into the SE Asian market and from 2016 was responsible for the whole Asian business from offices in Shanghai, Bangkok and Delhi.

        With overall responsibility for the performance of the business, his track record stems from establishing, growing and leading regional offices. Having lived in Bangkok he led an Asian business for over 7 years and secured consistent repeatable growth for the trade events his teams ran.

        He has achieved growth in business through a combination of bringing existing brands to the Asian market, securing and maximising joint venture partnerships with governments, associations and agencies, maximising mergers and acquisitions and establishing brand new greenfield launch events in fast moving sectors.

        Since 2020 Michael is leading the growth and expansion of Messe Munich’s Southeast Asia operation from the regional headquarter in Singapore. The organisations currently employ 20 staff and runs 6 tradeshows across Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia.

She received a certificate of excellence for her outstanding contributions to human resource development, consulting and research activities for the logistics industry from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Transport and a Commemorative Medal for the Cause of Education from the Ministry of Education. She has been scholarship holder many for international short courses of logistics and multimodal transport in The Netherlands, Japan, Taiwan and Australia (funded by Aus4skills). Funded by GIZ (Germany); British Council for international researches; as the logistics expert in some World Bank, IFC projects about Vietnam logistics. She has been the author of 3 books and more than 100 scientific articles published in many international and Vietnam journals and proceedings. She has been the head of logistics, port technology and transport projects funded by Ho Chi Minh City People’s committee, World Bank, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Industry and Trade, provincial governments in Hai Phong, Binh Duong, Binh Dinh, Long An, etc. She is also the leader of some logistics human resource reports for Aus4skills and assistant teaching for some Aus4skills VET courses with the role “ Design and Deliver the Australia Awards Short Course“ in some courses such as Introduction to Logistics; Change management, Fostering Female Empowerment and Leadership in VET and Logistics. She has been playing a role of member of the Steering Committee for Vietnam Logistics Services Development Strategy.

Ching Kiat began his career in the Administrative Service of the Singapore government. He has also worked for the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS); GIC Special Investments; management consultancy Booz Allen & Hamilton; and Asia Pacific Breweries. Ching Kiat holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Cambridge University and a Masters in Business Administration from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

      Biography

      Chris Humphrey is a Business Development and Government Relations professional with over 20 years of experience running business units throughout Asia, and over 30 years of experience of either working for or dealing with Governments and regulatory authorities. Chris began his varied professional career as a UK Civil Servant where, amongst other things, he was a Private Secretary to a Minister and an Air Services Trade Negotiator covering the Asia Pacific Region. After leaving Government, Chris moved to the private sector working initially in the Government and external relations teams at two British airlines, before moving to Shanghai, China with Virgin Atlantic where he headed up the airline’s China operation and oversaw the rapid expansion of their business in China. Whilst in Shanghai, Chris also sat on the Executive Committee of the British Chamber of Commerce. After a short spell in Hong Kong with Virgin, Chris then joined a UK based security and defence group where he led their Asia Pacific team for over five years and was instrumental in them getting contracts with the Japanese and Singapore Governments and also with SOEs in China. Chris has now been in Singapore for over 16 years and has been running the EU-ASEAN Business Council since its formal inception in 2014, where he has overseen a close to 500% increase in its membership and helped make the Business Council the foremost business body for European industry in ASEAN.
